WA using ethical supply chain as a way to market lithium battery industry
Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston has stated the intention of WA to start marketing the state to the rest of the world as a battery metals investment destination. Releasing a new strategy from Austrade in early December, the investment minister, Simon Birmingham, said the time was right to capitalise on growing global demand. The strategy was based on marketing WA as a ethical and sustainable source of battery metals, promising for a transparent supply chain free from modern-day slavery as well as producing materials using renewable energy.
