NSW Premier urged to ensure Modern Slavery Bill passes
NSW Christian Democrat MP Paul Green is determined to see a Modern Slavery Act for NSW and he says he'll wield his party's balance-of-power position to make that happen. The bill proposes mandatory reporting requirements on commercial organisations with annual revenue exceeding $50M and is aimed at addressing and eliminating slavery in supply chains. The bill (and a suite of amendments proposed by the NSW government) will be debated in the lower house in coming weeks. Paul Green has expressed his disappointment with the amendments, indicating they "basically remove the skeleton of the bill" and has reiterated to the Premier that his party would like the Bill to proceed without amendment.
