How consumers ignore the fact they're supporting slavery

It is almost impossible to avoid purchasing goods or services that are free from slavery. Research has revealed strategies that are being used by everyday consumers to avoid thinking about the issues of slavery while purchasing.

The research identified opinions such as adults having a ‘choice’ therefore not amounting to a slave and that the working conditions are inline with host country legislation. Read more responses here.

The research brought to light the lack of knowledge around modern slavery and the reality of where our products come from. Efforts to educate and raise awareness about ethical consumerism is needed, they said.
